Every community can make a low cost investment to promote green living and an eco friendly area where everyone can enjoy time together. With the help of volunteers, green projects are easy to create. Create something for the whole community by planting trees in a local park bearing fruit or nuts. Once ripe and ready to pick, everyone is welcome to a share of the bounty. Apple trees, almond trees, pecan trees, and orange trees can help provide much needed food or even fresh fruit for the local schools.

Choose an empty piece of ground within the community and turn it into a volunteer garden to share with everyone. Hire one person as the director and over seer to prepare, help planting, and growing fresh vegetables and fruit for a low cost or no cost share program. For everyone that volunteers in the garden, they receive their own shares for free. For the rest of the community, set up a garden stand and charge a very limited amount to anyone in need.

Involve children of the community to share one day of spring clean up. Let them arrive in spring costumes and provide each with a trash bag. Take them in groups with adults to monitor the work. Let half of the group will pick up trash while the other half collects recyclables. Provide a fun time lunch and free afternoon of play for the community work they have helped to provide.
